WHAT HAVE CHANGED AFTER COMING HOME

After coming home many things have changed. First of all, I myself have changed a lot. In fact, I can no longer see things the way I did before the study abroad experience. I met a lot of people from many different countries. We talked and shared experiences. We had the opportunity to talk about our culture to each other. We found out that we had much in common and at the same time a lot of cultural background differences. The other important change was the process of readaptation to my country's reality. In the guest country I saw many beautiful things and experienced a different life style, with which I was not used (but got used fast). Here in my country, I had to face all the difficulties about money, housing and transportation. I also had to face the reality of a country full of corrupt politicians and haunted by the violence's ghost. But I also found that it's a beautiful country, full of beloved people and opportunities to be taken. Now, I'm graduated in my cour...

BACK HOME

My trip to the US was great! I had a wonderful time. I met new friends, I learned a lot, I improved my language skills, I learned valuable lessons. But finally the day to get back home came. It was a nice and sunny day when I came back. I met my friend in the morning and spent some time with them. I could hardly believe that I was leaving. When I said good bye I felt a crack in the heart. I can´t believe how our hearts are able to become attached to people in such a short period of time. Professor Marotti took me to the airport and I left my friend behind. Soon I would leave Detroit behind. But my heart stayed there with my friends. In the airport there was a big trouble trying to get my flight ticket. It seems that the company had made the reservation, but, for some reason, the ticket had not been printed. Finally I was abl...

CAPES FIPSE EXCHANGEMENT PROGRAM 2006

It was a tough preparation. Get the passport, Fill in all the forms to send to the Wayne State University, Pay taxes and taxes, get the visa, etc. But thanks God we did it. We left Brazil on the 4th of January, 2006 at 7:30, leaving from Belo Horizonte with a stop in Sao Paulo. We arrived first in Washington DC on the 5th of January 2006 at 7:00 AM and Almost missed our flight to Detroit which should leave at 7:30. One of our friends stayed behind and had to come in the next flight, which was delayed 4 hours. Finally all of us got to Detroit on the 5th of January. Our luggage was delayed but arrived with the next flight. We had a hard time bringing it to the dorms, since we had only one car avaylable to do that. Fortunatly I had the idea of emptiing one of the bags and using my Black Belt to tie the luggage compartiment door. Then, we came, I, Fernanda and Professor Marotti from Wayne State, to the dorm. The other students were already there. Only I had came back with Professor Marotti...
